Expanded RetroDriller Fastener Line

RetroDrillerOMG Roofing Products has added a 4-inch length to its new RetroDriller Fastener Line. The RetroDriller is a heavy duty fastener designed for use in metal roof retrofit applications with 3-inch RhinoBond Plates (PVC and TPO). It is the ideal choice for securing thermoplastic single-ply roofing membrane to structural purlins in standing seam metal roof applications.

The RetroDriller has a 1/2-in. drill point which allows the fastener to quickly penetrate through the purlin before the threads engage into the metal roof deck. This greatly reduces fastener burnout and breakage, and eliminates “jacking” between the purlin and the metal panel.

RetroDriller Fasteners are Factory Mutual approved, can be used in purlins up to 3/16 thick, and are available in five lengths: 4-, 5-, 6-, 8- and 10-inches. In addition, RetroDriller Fasteners feature a low profile truss head with a #3 square drive for easy installation, and are coated with OMG’s exclusive CR-10 corrosion resistant coating. For best results, contractors should use a high torque, low RPM screw gun with a maximum speed of 1800 RPM.

Immediately available, RetroDriller Fasteners are packaged in weather-resistant buckets for easy handling and storage. For additional information, please contact your local OMG sales representative, click or call 800.633.3800.

AccuTrac Calculator Online

AccuTrac CalculatorProductivity is the name of the game and OMG has launched a new feature on olyfast.com. The AccuTrac Calculator measures the expected increase in productivity roofers can get when using the AccuTrac Insulation Attachment System rather than traditional loose or pre-assembled insulation fasteners. The comparison visually displays the productivity benefits as well as the potential savings with the AccuTrac system.

Estimators simply fill in the number of screws required for the project, their hourly labor rates, and the cost of the insulation fasteners and plates. The calculator does the rest, providing the time, labor, and material cost savings expected with the AccuTrac system.

OMG AccuTrac is a stand-up insulation attachment system that provides the lowest installed cost for mechanical insulation attachment. In one motion, the tool aligns the plate as the operator drives the fastener, eliminating the need for extra help and potentially increasing productivity by up to 40%.

Improved OlyBond Classic!

OlyBond ClassicIn keeping with OMG’s commitment to continuous improvement, OMG Roofing Products has announced two improvements to its OlyBond Classic Spray Polyurethane foam insulation adhesive.

First, OlyBond Classic is now available in a single temperature formula. This improvement allows the same product to be used in a wide ambient temperature range of 35°F and above. Contractors can easily control the adhesive “open time” by regulating the temperature on the rig. OlyBond Classic’s wide array of Factory Mutual approvals are not affected by this change, making OlyBond Classic the best choice for spray applied adhesive applications.

Second, OlyBond Classic is now packaged in 55 gallon containers (110 gallon sets) rather than 50 gallon (100 gallon) sets. This reduces the number of change-overs required by 10%, providing even greater production and less down time when compared with adhesive in 50 gallon containers.

Realigned Territories Enhance Service
OMG Roofing Products has re-aligned its field sales force in order to provide enhanced services to the roofing industry.

Under the new structure, OMG has split the U.S. into eight sales regions, up from four, enabling us to provide a greater level of service and more extensive product support to its growing customer base.  This has become increasingly important as OMG’s product line has evolved beyond fasteners and plates to include insulation adhesives, retrofit drains, pipe supports, repair tape and proprietary productivity tools such as the AccuTrac and RhinoBond systems.

“We are already known in the industry for providing outstanding customer service and field support,” said Sean Kelly, director of sales for OMG Roofing Products. “This change allows us to increase visibility among our customers and at the same time address increasingly complex and often time-consuming roofing issues. We are very excited about this development and our ability to add even more value to the commercial roofing community.”

Five former field salesmen – Sean Dougherty, Jason Hildenbrand, Todd Gray, Pat Cherry and David Giesy – have been promoted to the position of regional sales manager (RSM) and join existing RSMs Stephen Trites, Matt Hamilton and Bob Crellin.
Regional MapThe new sales structure is as follows:

Matt Hamilton – Northeast Region
Sean Dougherty – Atlantic Region
Stephen Trites – Florida Region
Jason Hildenbrand – Midwest Region
Pat Cherry – Northern Region
David Giesy – Texas Region
Todd Gray – Northwest Region
Bob Crellin – Southwest Region

Case Study

RhinoBond Metal Retrofit on Distribution Center

The H.E. Butt Grocery Company had a problem. Its San Marcos, Texas Distribution Center had a leaking standing seam roof, and several efforts to remedy the situation – including elastomeric coatings – had failed. The H-E-B facility is used to store and distribute household, cosmetic and pharmaceutical products. The building’s 396,126 square foot roof was in trouble “because of its size and the movement in the metal” said Brian Kimbrell, president of Merit Roofing Systems, Inc. of Richardson, Texas.

Realizing the only answer was to reroof, H-E-B turned to Sika Sarnafil, who had been supplying roofing solutions to H-E-B for 12 years. The original specification was for a Sika Sarnafil mechanically fastened system, with a 72-mil S327 EnergySmart membrane. Read the full story here.
