Manufacturing Engineer - Job ID #TW1005
We seek a diverse, experienced, and hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to develop and implement optimal, cost-effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards. Reporting directly to the Director of Manufacturing and Technology, the successful candidate will maximize productivity and safety with cellular manufacturing, improvements in material handling, lean principles, capital recommendations, work force utilization, and champion Continuous Improvement. Additional tasks include support of tool engineering and support of product development.
Responsibilities
- Development and enforcement of safe work practices in factory that further OMG’s #1 goal of an accident free workplace.
- Supports and engages factory in Continuous Improvement and Lean Principles, including 5S.
- Performs research, design and development of manufacturing processes including production flow and production equipment.
- Prepares and maintains detailed layouts of buildings and equipment.
- Assists and sometimes performs role of product development engineer, designing, prototyping, testing, and developing new or revised products.
- Coordinates the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including blueprints, quality standards, tool design, process specifications, and communication of goals to the factory. .
- Designs, develops and tests and/or sources and cost-justifies various tools, machinery and equipment for recommended manufacturing methods and material handling.
- Performs product/process analysis for cost reduction, quality improvement, safety, and improved efficiency.
- Recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls.
- Create, evaluate and/or approve drawings, routings, specs, SOP’s, training materials and other documents.
- Conduct training as needed. .
- Collects data and prepares reports on various factory metrics for management.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Mechanical aptitude and a demonstrated willingness to get dirty.
- At least 2-5 years experience in manufacturing engineering or a commensurate level of experience with related products.
- Demonstrated ability to improve and implement manufacturing processes and methods for cost-reduction, quality improvement and efficiency.
- Solid experience improving production control, standard operating procedures, safety, quality control and training through the use of standard engineering concepts and practices.
- Strong analytical, mathematical, organizational and communication skills.
- Capable of overcoming obstacles and completing assignments in a timely manner.
- Team-oriented approach with a desire to work in a hands-on capacity.
- Excellent PC skills including experience with MS Office Suite.
- AutoCAD experience preferred, Mechanical Desktop a plus.
- Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility, ownership, and loyalty.
- Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance; and regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Good close vision and depth perception skills.
