We are searching for an Environmental Health & Safety Engineer to support the EH&S Manager by developing, implementing, and maintaining various site environmental & safety programs at our facilities.  The successful candidate will be a creative problem solver with strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within the organization.  We value an understanding of production manufacturing processes, and a commitment to working as a team player!  Our goal is that this change agent will help incorporate safety as the highest priority in our culture and value system!

Responsibilities

• Interact daily with employees to provide support, assistance, and guidance on safe work practices and proper PPE.
• Conduct audits for EH&S compliance and provide technical support as necessary.
• Function as an involved member and leader on the Safety Committee for initiatives, goals, and challenges.
• Perform incident/accident investigations, root cause analysis, assist in the determination of corrective actions, and ensure recommended corrective actions/preventative measures are completed in a timely manner.
• Perform Industrial Hygiene monitoring for heat stress, air quality, confined space atmospheric testing, and perform ergonomic evaluations and recommendations.
• Support and participate in the continuous improvement and ergonomics initiatives of the company.
• Prepare and maintain accurate site EH&S records and documentation, including tracking and reporting of safety statistics.
• Perform safety and environmental training in accordance with established safety programs and policies.
• Provide assistance and support to maintain OSHA and EPA compliance with HazCom, medical surveillance, emergency response, wastewater, VOC emissions, and Hazardous Waste programs.
• Assist with implementation of specialized programs to ensure facility compliance with Hazard Communication, Hazardous Waste Minimization/Elimination, Stormwater Management, Hazardous Waste Management, VOC Emission Reporting, Blood-Borne Pathogens, Audiometric Testing Program, and Ergonomics.
• Review and update existing facility EH&S policies.
• Assist with injury case management and workers compensation claim resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor in Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, Engineering or a closely related technical field, or a commensurate amount of experience as a safety professional.
• Minimum 5-7 years in an EH&S role in Manufacturing.
• Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, RCRA, Life Safety, EH&S and Industrial Hygiene assessment methods.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Strong PC skills including MS Office Suite.
• Positive attitude, good judgment and excellent time management skills.
• Strong sense of responsibility and ownership for projects/tasks.
• Ability to walk, stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance. 
• Fluency in Spanish preferred!
• Waste Water Treatment Sampling and experience with SPCC and SWPPP plans a plus!
